STOP ANTICOMMUNISM!
We the undersigned express our indignation over the draft resolution entitled "Need for international condemnation of crimes of totalitarian communist regimes" to be discussed during the January 2006 session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe The document equates communism with Nazism on equal footing, washes away the Nazi genocide and even undermines international law. It triggers a new anticommunist crusade with the aim to criminalize class struggle, the communist ideology and action. It paves the way for dangerous developments, for severe attacks on fundamental democratic rights and liberties. The draft resolution surpasses McCarthysm, distorts history and offends the resistance fighters, the antifascist, communist and other progressive people as well as the victims of Nazism and of fascist dictatorships. For all these reasons we, irrespectively of our ideological or political stand and of our opinion on the communist ideology and socialism, demand from the members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to reject the antidemocratic draft resolution "Need for international condemnation of crimes of totalitarian communist regimes".
